A New Chapter Begins at Biggs Park Mall
Big changes are coming to Biggs Park Mall, and we could not be more excited to share what is ahead.
Beginning this February, Lumberton residents and visitors will start to see a major transformation take shape as Biggs Park Mall embarks on a significant redevelopment designed to reimagine the region’s retail experience for the next generation.
New Stores, New Energy
Some of the most in-demand national retailers are officially on their way to Robeson County. TJ Maxx, Burlington, and Five Below are all planned for new locations at Biggs Park Mall, bringing expanded shopping options and fresh energy to the center. Lease discussions are also underway with additional sought-after brands, including Ulta Beauty, along with several restaurants that have expressed strong interest in joining the lineup.
At the same time, many longtime tenants are reinvesting in their stores as part of the redevelopment. Shoe Show, Tomlinson’s, Bath & Body Works, and other independent retailers will be renovating, while Belk and Maurice’s have extended their leases and are planning updated store designs of their own. The result will be a mix of familiar favorites and new arrivals, all within a refreshed and modernized setting.
Designed for How People Shop Today
Ideally located just off Interstate 95 and Highway 211, and surrounded by popular dining destinations like Chick-fil-A, Bojangles, Hardee’s, and Sonic, Biggs Park Mall is uniquely positioned to serve not only Lumberton but also surrounding counties including Scotland, Hoke, Cumberland, Bladen, and Columbus.
This redevelopment represents an $18 million investment by longtime property owners K.M. Biggs, Inc., continuing a legacy of adapting to changing retail trends. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for February 16, 2026, marking the official start of this next phase.
Rather than abandoning the mall’s roots, the project embraces a hybrid approach. New retailers will occupy the former JCPenney space in an open-air format, while a smaller enclosed common area will remain dedicated to community gatherings. Seasonal traditions such as visits from Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and other local events will continue to be a cherished part of the Biggs Park experience.
A Legacy More Than a Century in the Making
The Biggs family’s connection to Lumberton spans more than 120 years. What began in 1903 as a small mercantile business grew into a multi-generational enterprise that has continually evolved alongside the community it serves. From early grocery and hardware operations, to the development of Biggs Park in the 1950s, to the opening of Robeson County’s first enclosed mall in 1984, adaptation has always been at the heart of the Biggs story.
Now, four decades later, Biggs Park Mall is once again evolving to meet the moment.
Gratitude and Looking Ahead
This transformation would not be possible without strong partnerships and community support. The Biggs family extends sincere thanks to local and county leadership, utility partners, financial institutions, and the development team who helped bring this vision to life. Most importantly, appreciation goes to the community that has supported Biggs Park Mall for generations.
As construction begins and new storefronts take shape, one thing is clear: Biggs Park Mall is not just changing. It is investing in the future of Lumberton.
We cannot wait to welcome you to what comes next.
